Tallest skyscrapers around the world

There are lots of tall buildings around the world that soar into the sky hundreds of metres high. 

The five tallest buildings in the world are: 

 

  1. Abraj Al Bait

Abraj Al Bait is a 601 metre tall building in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, which has the biggest clock in the world on it. 

 

  1. Shanghai Tower 

Shanghai Tower is a 632 metre tall skyscraper in Shanghai, China. It is the world’s tallest twisting tower and has the world’s highest observation deck. 

 

  1. Tokyo Skytree 

Tokyo Skytree is a 634 metre tall tower in Tokyo, Japan. It is the tallest tower in the world (it is not a building) it is also the tallest broadcasting tower that powers most of the city of Tokyo.  

 

  1. Merdeka 118

Merdeka 118 is a 678 metre tall skyscraper in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and it was completed in 2021. Its name Merdeka means “independence” and the “118” relates to its 118 floors. 

 

  1. Burj Khalifah

Burj Khalifah is an 828 metre tall skyscraper in Dubai, UAE (United Arab Emirates). It is by far the tallest skyscraper in the world and has the 2nd largest choreographed fountain in the world. It has the fastest lifts in the world, traveling at 40 MPH (miles per hour).
