The Magical World of Roald Dahl
Roald Dahl was a truly a magnificent person.
He was a famous author who wrote more than 20 books!
He wrote books like:
- Fantastic Mr Fox
- Matilda
- The BFG
- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
- Danny the Champion of the World
He also had an amazing life. He was a spy and a pilot in the RAF (Royal Air Force).
When he wrote books and couldn’t think of quite the right word to use, he made them up. Roald Dahl invented more than 500 words and character names.
His books were inspired by people and things from his own life. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was inspired by his own childhood. When he was a child, Roald Dahl tested chocolate for a chocolate factory.
Roald Dahl died on 23rd November 1990.
This year would have been his 107th birthday.
