The Consequences of the War in Ukraine

This war has been going on now for around 2 months. In this post, I will tell you some negative consequences and some positive things (if there are any)!

(Word/ phrases which are written in bold can be found in the glossary at the end of the post.)

Consequence No.1

There have been shortages of materials including fuel and food in all countries that are backing up Ukraine. This is because Russia is a very big producer and  exporter of materials and they will not give any materials to people on the other side. Two more reasons for the shortages are that:

1) Ukraine’s ports and other ways to transport goods have been cut off by Russia, removing Ukraine from the production chain, and

2) In India there has been a massive heat wave which is not good for crops and makes it harder for the people of India to not get hot while working!

Consequence No.2

Some people are worried that there may be a WW3! Don’t worry though- this is very unlikely. The reasons people are worried is because they believe that Russia may turn on all of the people that are backing up Ukraine!

Consequence No.3

The war is also bad for climate change as Russia’s tanks use fuel some debris may create smoke if on fire!

Remember, if there are any refugee people in your class or community, support them! The reason they are here may be that they have escaped a war or severe natural disaster.

  • Wow! What a fantastic article. It was a great idea to include a glossary too!

    • Thanks. I thought (since quite a lot of the people who go to the pupil magazine club are in year four and under) some people may not understand a couple of the words, in the end only one word made it into the glossary though. 🙂
