Rounders!
Rounders!
Why rounders is my favourite sport
Rounders is my favourite sport for many reasons: it is easy to be competitive; I like running and batting; I enjoy team sports. I like the fact of being competitive because it gives the game a purpose. I also enjoy team sports because you have to work together and the game won’t depend on skill ( although that plays a big part in it).
 Rules
When playing rounders you must remember to always run around the post and never drop the bat otherwise you will be instantly out. When you get to fourth base you must remember to tap the base but not knock it over. If you do not tap the base you have not completed the round and the fielders are still eligible to tap the base and get you out; if you knock over the base, all the points you have scored in that round will be lost. If fielders are standing at bases they must stand in front of the base otherwise it will count as blocking and the batting team will be awarded half a rounder; if a fielder is in the way of the batter, they will be obstructing and half a point will be given to the batting team.
How to play rounders
- The bowler throws the ball: if the ball goes over the batters head, under the batter’s knees or outside of the batting box it is a noball. If 3 noballs are thrown in a row, the batting team is awarded half a point. If the bowler ( or one of the fielders) catches the ball before it hits the ground then that batter will be instantly out.
- The batter tries to hit the ball: if the ball is a noball, the batter is awarded half a point. If the ball is perfectly fine then the batter must run.
- When the batter has batted they must run: if the fielders stump the post that you are running to, you are out. If the bowler has the ball, you stop at the base you are at. When the next ball is thrown, can carry on running to the next post ( or posts ) whether the ball is a noball or not.
- The players carry on until everyone on the batting team has had a turn or the timer has run out. Then the two teams swap over.
How to score points
- If a fielders block a batter while they are running the batting team will be awarded half a rounder
- If a bowler throws a noball 3 times in a row, half a point is awarded to the batting team
- If the batter hits the ball and goes all the way round the posts they score 1 point
- If the batter doesn’t hit the ball and gets all the way round the bases they will be awarded half a point
I love rounders and it is my favourite sport and I hope people will come to enjoy it too!
