All about Lady J!
My name is Fahema and I go to Lady Joanna Thornhill Primary School ( Lady J) in Wye. In this article, I am going to tell you all about my school.
Headteacher
Our Headteacher is called Mrs Foster. She has been at the school for two years.
She has a dog called Wolfie. Every Wednesday, Mrs Foster brings Wolfie to school with her.
Classes
We have 14 classes in our school. Year R, and Years 1-6. Each year group has two classes. There are over 400 children in our school.
In Year R the classes are named Butterfly Class and Bumblebee Class.
In Year 1 the classes are named Foxes and Hedgehogs.
In Year 2 the classes are named Rabbits and Squirrels .
In the juniors (Years 3-6), all of the classes are named after different types of birds. My class is Parrot class.
Lessons
I am now going to talk about the subjects we learn. These are: Math, English, Spelling, Computing, Science, French, History, Art, Re, Geography, Pe, PSHE, and DT. And then there’s my favourite bit of all- play time!
Clubs
There are lots of clubs at our school. Some of them are:
- Magazine Club (run by Mrs Coxall)
- Drama Club (run by Mr Godden)
- Art club ( Miss Irle )
- Book club ( Mrs Burrell)
School Trips
We get to go on lots of school trips at our school. So far I have been to:
- Walmer Castle
- Beach
- Walk to the forest
- Roman museum
In Year 6, children are able to go on a weeklong trip called PGL.
The Friends Association
The Friends Association are a group of parents who help raise money for the school. They raise money by holding school fairs and special events. They raised money to pay for Magazine Club and for Opal.
Opal
Now I am going to tell you about OPAL. Opal is a new thing we do at playtime. You can choose to go to: the sandpit, the quiet area, dressing area, tire area and lots more. The area mostly I like is the dressing area because there are obstacles and you can dress up as anything you like!
