The Snake: A Funny Story
This is a famous story about a competition:
One night, some men came to an old’s man house like they did every week. The old man decided he would hold a competition. He said, “I will give a prize to whoever can draw the best snake !”
All of the men were excited. Some tried to draw perfect snakes while others tried to do it quickly. One man just drew a squiggly line.
Another man drew his snake, but then he saw that everyone else was still working. It worried him that he had finished quicker than the other so he decided to carry on his picture and added feet to it. Of course, that man lost!
Because of this story, the expression: ‘drawing a snake and adding legs to it’ means doing unnecessary extra work which spoils what you have done already.
